|A WISH FOR WILLIAM.
Little William Hughes from Holywell owes his life to the overwhelming generosity of an unknown organ donor and his grieving family.
Somewhere in the North of England a young man died but left a legacy that meant 16-month-old William has a real chance of a long and happy life.
In the dead of night the toddler¹s worried parents received the telephone call they had been waiting for - - their tiny son's liver transplant could take place after a mercy dash to the famous St James Hospital (Jimmy's) in Leeds. After a nine hour operation real hope was born out of tragedy as first signs were good that the operation had been a success. The little fighter was recovering so well plans were made within 24 hours to move him out of intensive care and into a general ward.
Williams parents Melanie Owen and Arfon Hughes were delighted the transplant had gone so well but acknowleged that somewhere it meant another family was grieving. They will never forget the donor¹s special gift or the donor family¹s selfless decision.
Now it¹s your chance to take a step that could bring life out of death, sight to the blind or simply hope to the hopeless.
